CITY OF REFUGE

A FUTURE BUILDING PROJECT

The City of Refuge is a long term solution to the issues facing the people of South Asia. This “city” would be the first to be built to sustain the growth at which we desire to be rescuing children.

THEY NEED A CITY OF REFUGE

The earthquake disasters that struck Nepal in 2015 exacerbated the vulnerabilities of its population, particularly for women and children. The destruction of infrastructure, homes, and livelihoods left many families in dire situations, increasing their susceptibility to exploitation and trafficking.

The trafficking of Nepali girls to India is a longstanding issue, rooted in poverty, lack of opportunities, and the breakdown of social structures following such calamities. The chaos and disruption caused by natural disasters often create fertile ground for human traffickers to prey on the most vulnerable, promising false hopes of better opportunities or exploiting their desperation for survival.

Efforts to combat trafficking and support survivors require comprehensive strategies that address root causes, provide economic opportunities, strengthen social safety nets, and enhance law enforcement capabilities. Furthermore, initiatives focusing on education and awareness-raising are crucial in empowering communities to recognize and resist trafficking schemes.

The City of Refuge project is a significant and compassionate initiative aimed at providing shelter and support for fatherless children. This city will play a crucial role in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, offering them a safe haven and opportunities for a better future.

In addition to providing physical infrastructure, it's essential that the City of Refuge incorporates comprehensive programs and services to address the holistic needs of these children. This may include educational support, healthcare services, counseling, vocational training, and opportunities for recreation and socialization. Moreover, efforts to reunite children with family members or find suitable guardians should also be prioritized whenever possible.

Community involvement and support are also vital for the success of such initiatives. Engaging local stakeholders, volunteers, and organizations can enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of the City of Refuge in serving its intended beneficiaries. Overall, this project, will demonstrate a commitment to addressing social challenges and providing hope and stability for those in need.

Inside The City Walls

  • Security Measures: Gated entrances, perimeter walls, surveillance cameras, and security guards provide a secure environment, reducing the risk of intrusion by traffickers or other threats.

  • Emergency Services: On-site fire and police support ensures quick response times in case of emergencies, enhancing overall safety and peace of mind for residents.

  • On-Site Hospital: Having a medical facility within the community enables prompt treatment of illnesses and injuries, ensuring residents receive timely care without needing to travel far.

  • Stability in Housing: Eliminating the fear of eviction provides residents with peace of mind and stability, allowing them to focus on their well-being and daily lives without worrying about abrupt changes in living arrangements.

  • Ample Outdoor Space: Playground areas and athletic fields offer children opportunities for outdoor recreation and physical activity in a safe and supervised environment, fostering their health and development.

  • Sanitary Facilities: Well-maintained toilet facilities with hot and cold water for showers, along with water and sewage treatment systems, ensure residents have access to clean and hygienic amenities, promoting overall health and well-being.

  • Individual Beds for Children: Ensuring each child has their own bed provides them with a sense of personal space and comfort, promoting better sleep and overall well-being.

  • Gender-Separated Facilities: Separate halls and floors for girls and boys accommodate cultural or privacy preferences, ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment for all residents.

  • Educational Opportunities: Offering education and literacy classes for children of various grades supports their intellectual development and academic success. These classes could cover a range of subjects, including basic literacy skills, mathematics, science, and social studies, empowering children with knowledge and skills for their future.

By providing these additional amenities and services, the community fosters a supportive and nurturing environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, while also promoting respect for individual needs and preferences. This community also prioritizes the safety, health, and happiness of its residents, creating a supportive environment where families can thrive and children can grow up in a secure and nurturing setting.
